There's something so terrifying and yet intriguing about a hole and that mystery will deepen if you decide to play Hole IO. This is a strange realm that goes all over the place and has a very big problem: Holes. These aren't just holes that get bigger over time, but holes that are hungry to consume as much as they can. You will be controlling one of these holes as you compete with other holes to feed first and worry about size later. The bigger you are, the harder you'll be to fight, and that can only happen if you eat up everything… that's the hole story.
What makes holes so interesting is the mystery that they provide, especially when you don't know how they can be. This game doesn't provide an answer to that but it doesn't need to do so. It's just a game about holes and the holes are moving and eating. You try and compete with the other holes or just focus on what you're doing to see how big you can get. To be the biggest hole is an accomplishment, but just seeing what it can eat is an even bigger one. Just make sure you don't get swallowed up too early otherwise you won't see how deep this game goes.
Hole IO is a 3D top-down competitive game about holes swallowing everything using the mouse or keyboard.
With the mouse, simply mouse the cursor and your hole will move towards its location. The goal of the game involves eating enough for your hole to win.
The hole is attached to the ground and so is restricted to it on each map. When moving, the hole will not be stopped by any obstacles that it comes across. To "eat" something, you need to position the hole directly underneath it. A ring around the hole will indicate how close it is to growing and when it closes, the hole will increase in size. The hole can only eat objects that fit within its size, otherwise they will be unaffected save for some wobbling. In certain modes, holes can eat each other provided that they're big enough while most times they can just pass harmlessly through each other.
By playing the game and getting achievements, you can unlock new skins for your hole on the main menu. However, some skins can only be acquired through social media.
When starting, you need to comb the edges of the map for small things like plants and bushes. Humans are also a good source, but they move and don't tend to group so stick to stationary objects like crates. A building can be eaten as long as you position yourself so that it falls straight down and not on its side.
There are currently five modes available in the game:
The two modes that have you playing against other holes don't pit you against players but rather bots instead.
