Rob Marciano's exit from ABC News and Good Morning America didn't come as a shock to those who worked with him.
Swetha Sharma, who previously worked at the same company as Marciano, exclusively tells PEOPLE that the meteorologist, 55, had been known to be quick to anger. Though there are many who have had positive experiences with Marciano, she says the reason behind the news of his departure was well understood by those who collaborated with him.
"He was nice but that also wasn't everyone's experience with him," Sharma explains. "There were always stories about him about his temper. No one that worked with him or witnessed his behavior is surprised by any of this."
However, a source who regularly works with Marciano tells PEOPLE that the claims about his temper couldn't be further from the truth.
"Rob is always positive, hands on and never anything but professional," the source says. "People enjoy working with him and he's not difficult to work with."
Calling the reports against Marciano "vicious," the source adds they — along with several other colleagues — were "always happy to see they were assigned" to Marciano and that the "Rob Marciano being portrayed is not the Rob Marciano we know."
Marciano and reps at ABC did not return PEOPLE's request for comment.

On April 30, PEOPLE confirmed that the weather expert was no longer in his position at the network.
Before his official departure, the broadcaster had reportedly been temporarily banned from the show's studio in New York City due to his allegedly inappropriate behaviors, per Page Six. However, Marciano continued to report the weather for ABC from outside locations.
Marciano became ABC News' senior meteorologist in July 2014 and has since continued his work reporting the weather on Good Morning America. He made his official debut on the morning show in September of the same year. The broadcaster had previously worked for Entertainment Tonight and CNN.

The news of the television personality's exit comes seven months after he celebrated a decade on the news network. In September 2023, Marciano — who is also going through a divorce with ex-wife Eryn Marciano — marked the career milestone with a tribute post shared on Instagram.
"This month marks the start of my 10th year with ABC News, and I couldn’t be more pumped to continue this journey with all of you," he wrote alongside a photo of his headshot at the time. "I always dreamed of working for this network as a kid, and my children are equally psyched that I will now be home most weekends!"
