It may sound odd, but one of my favorite things to experience during my trips to the mall are the signature smells of some of my favorite stores. Perhaps my favorite aroma is that of Williams-Sonoma stores.
If you’ve never shopped in the kitchenware and home furnishing store, I would describe the scent you encounter as clean, sweet and sophisticated – very much like the essence of the store’s brand.
I similarly enjoy enhancing the ambiance in my home with fragrances such as scented candles and essential oil diffusers. However, I’ve discovered a great way to duplicate the scent found in my favorite store, at home, with a few simple ingredients!
All you have to do is:
– Bring two cups of water to a boil
– Add a sprig of rosemary and a stick of vanilla
– Add the juice from one full lemon
– Allow pot to boil until the scent fills your home
Tell Me: What’s your favorite home scent?
Can’t wait to try this! For years I have used an old recipe to add a sort of autumn / Christmas like smell to our home:
Bring 2-6 cups of water to boil and add:
The juice and peel of 1/2 lemon or lime
1 cinnamon stick
Just a few cloves (it can be too strong with many, adjust to your liking)
Can also add a bit of orange peel
This makes you whole house smell great!
Thank you so much for this, Rebecca. Great idea that cost less than candles.
Hey, can’t find vanilla sticks. Where can I get them? thanks
Hi Rhonda! You can get them at your local grocery store. I’ve seen them in Target, too!
