Joel Guy Jr is an American convicted murderer from Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a plastic surgeon trainee at the Louisiana State University. While he lived a quiet life, he became infamous for the murder and dismemberment of his parents, Lisa and Joel Guy Sr.

Joel was born on March 13, 1988, to Joel Michael Guy Sr. and Lisa Guy Madere. His father was a pipeline engineering designer, while his mother was a human resources accounts payable administrator at Jacobs Engineering in Oak Ridge.
Was Joel Guy Jr. an only child? Yes. He was Joel and Lisa's only son. However, his father had three daughters from his previous relationship. He attended Hahnville High School and later joined the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts in Natchitoches. He graduated in 2006.
After high school, Joel enrolled at George Washington University, where he only spent a semester before transferring to Louisiana State University. He was training to become a plastic surgeon and lived in Baton Rouge until the 2016 gruesome murders.

When Lisa arrived home, she dropped the groceries and headed upstairs, where she was attacked and killed. Previously, Lisa had been seen purchasing items at Walmart at around 12:15 pm. After killing both of them, he dismembered their bodies.
While assaulting his father, Joel sustained cuts, including a deep one to his left thumb. Therefore, halfway through the dismembering, he rushed to Walmart's first aid section to buy bandages and ointment for the wounds. The police officers arrived at the home before Joel’s return.
Jennifer Whited, Lisa Guy’s boss, grew suspicious of her absence from work and thus called the police for a welfare check. According to Daily Mail, when the investigators arrived at Lisa’s home, they discovered a bloody scene characterized by:
With almost every piece of evidence pointing to Joel Guy Jr., the FBI, Knox County Sheriff's Office, and East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office placed him under surveillance for a few days. So, when was Joel Guy Jr. arrested? He was apprehended on November 29 while entering his 2006 Hyundai Sonata in Baton Rouge. During the arrest, a meat grinder was found in the trunk of his car.
Upon arrest, Joel Guy Jr pleaded not guilty. He filed a surprise motion seeking to be given the death penalty if convicted since his defence team had refused to file the motion. However, the assistant DA and prosecutor weren't planning to seek the death penalty regardless of what Guy wanted.
After four days of trial, he was found guilty. So, what was Joel Guy Jr's sentence? He was sentenced to life in prison. In addition, he was also convicted of abuse of a corpse. What is Joel Guy Jr doing now? He is serving two life sentences at the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, Tennessee.
The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeal rejected Joel's motion for a new trial. He argued that the investigators entered the home without a warrant. However, the court affirmed that evidence from the former ruling was obtained and introduced appropriately.

What happened to Joel Guy Jr? He stabbed his father at least 42 times and his mother at least 31 times in 2016. In 2020, he was found guilty of murdering and dismembering his parents in their home in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and is currently serving his sentence.
