Kate Chastain has candidly discussed her journey to become a mother — and the challenges that come with expecting her first child.
In December 2022, the Below Deck alum confirmed that she is pregnant. While Chastain offered glimpses at her pregnancy, she admitted that she wasn’t giving all the details away. “I’m saving that a little bit,” she told Andy Cohen during an interview on Watch What Happens Live that same month, referring to her baby’s sex.
The former chief stew later said she was feeling “great” amid the major life change. “Honestly, I like sleeping in and I’m also kind of lazy and selfish, so I feel like that’s gonna be an adjustment,” she joked during an interview with E! News in December 2022. “But I just figure if I love this child as much as I love my dog, everything will be fine, and people are assuring me that I will.”

According to Chastain, she has already received support from fellow Bravo stars including Brandi Glanville.
"[Brandi] already has given me parenting advice and it is great advice, enthusiastic," the Florida native said about Glanville, who shares two sons with ex-husband Eddie Cibrian. "I'm really thankful I'm going to have Brandi as a parenting coach."

During an interview, Chastain revealed that she initially had plans to work with Glanville on a show ahead of her pregnancy.
“I would be lying if I said some [NBCUniversal] executives didn’t already throw that out across the table,” she hinted to Page Six about a potential spinoff series. “It was a thing but then I had to go get pregnant.”

During an interview, the Below Deck alum revealed the main reason she was excited to be a single mom.
"I think, from people seeing me on Below Deck and Traitors — I'm fiercely independent," she told Page Six. "I don't really love people's opinions being different than mine and trying to make me go their way. So I really am so excited that I'll be able to do this exactly how I want to."

"I did [want kids] but I wasn't sure if it was going to happen for me so I just feel so lucky," Chastain shared during a WWHL appearance. "It's been the easiest pregnancy ever. Well, my only, but yeah!"

"The hardest thing [about my pregnancy] was, you're really not supposed to share until you're at week 12 and BravoCon was week 11 and a half," the Bravo star detailed to Entertainment Tonight about the October 2022 event. "So, here I am, the biggest weekend, partying, drinks — everybody in the Bravo universe, 'Come out, have drinks with us!' I must have told at least 43 people I was on antibiotics, and I'm such a bad liar that I just started locking myself in my hotel room, because everybody was there having a good time, and I was pretty sure people were on to me because [they were like], ‘Kate Chastain, you're not having a drink with us? Are you [OK]?’"

"It is a happy miracle, and I would love to share every detail [about] how it happened and everything, but I think I’m gonna be a good mom because I’m realizing, like, this is not just my information," Chastain told ET. "Like, my unborn child, one day, will have access to the internet and we'll be able to Google, and I just feel like it's not just my information to share."

"Sullivan's 3 months now, so I think I'm finally finding a groove and I'm really enjoying it. I love it so much, but I am constantly shocked by how much work it is. And that's coming from me who was known on Below Deck for working quite a lot. It's a lot of work that I love so much," Chastain exclusively told Us. "Postpartum was no big deal [for me] just because I was so distracted by having this baby. I'm very fortunate in that way and I'm just absolutely obsessed with him."
She continued: "A lot of my [family and] friends were like — before I had Sullivan — said, 'Listen Kate, it's OK if you don't like him at first. Don't feel bad.' And I was like, 'Does your child know you've are telling me this advice?' So I'm very lucky that I've just been in love since day one."
Chastain opened up about her baby boy's milestones, adding, "It's nice when you're doing all this work to get a little reciprocation [such as] a little smile or a little giggle. That's just nice. They change so fast at this age that every day he does something new and it's how they get you. There's so much work, but every day there is a new surprise. So it just keeps you in love with them, which is really smart on their part."
