Officials say the incident began after a confrontation between the victim, Shane Hendrix, and a bartender about an unpaid tab.
They say Hendrix made “crude comments” and began to step towards the female bartender.
According to authorities, the bar’s security stepped in and instead of escorting out, they “struck, kicked and kneeled” on Hendrix several time while dragging him out of the bar.
As we have reported, an off-duty EPD officer who was working for the bar was outside assisting another person and was not involved in the incident.

They say the EPD officer only made contact with the victim when the officer found him outside on the sidewalk.
Officials say Hendrix was given a case number and declined the officer’s offer of medical attention.
They say video footage has been obtained, and Chase’s owners have been fully cooperative in the investigation.
Authorities say security guard 29-year-old Sean Shell was arrested for felony battery, and 41-year-old Johnathon Turner has now also been charged with felony battery after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Mugshots for both security guards were not immediately posted to the Vanderburgh Sheriff’s Booking Page, but they have now both been made available.
The jail website shows Turner has been released.
