True Crime Addict? I Got You!
2006, Lake Forest, California-
Nicole Catsouras was only 18 on Halloween day of 2006 when she decided to borrow her Daddy’s Porsche 911 Carrera without his permission. That’s a whole lot of car for a young girl with little driving experience. She decided to test the car out, see how fast it could go; this didn’t end well. She topped off at approximately 100 miles per hour, lost control of the vehicle, clipped another vehicle, and slammed into a cement toll booth. The death was instantaneous, Nicole was practically decapitated.
You can imagine the grief Lesli and Christos Catsouras felt after losing their daughter, but what’s worse is that the photos of Nicole’s death were leaked. A couple of highway patrol workers sent the photos to family, and they spread like wildfire. Internet people can be so cruel; strangers began sending the family photos of their mangled daughter. The parents were so horrified they decided to pull their younger daughter out of school so that she wouldn’t be harassed as well.
The Catsouras filed a lawsuit against the highway patrol for leaking the photos, and who can blame them? The legal battle stretched out over the years, and eventually the family was found to have suffered severe emotional and mental distress due to the photos having been leaked. The family eventually received a payout of .375 million.
I guess I don’t understand criticizing someone for leaking photos when you repost the photos…post the photos but don’t say it’s awful to do when you are part of the issue you’re condemning.
The photos are out there for all the world to see, just search her name and you can’t help seeing them. I’m not the one who leaked them 🤦 You really don’t see a difference?
There was not condemning here, just reporting events.
Thank you 💛
She didn’t leak the dann photos. Blame those who did, not her. Yet your here looking at the photos just like everyone else. Hypocrite
💚
I’m so glad you have it back, THATS YOUR LIFE and your great at it.
They should have fired the cop and the family’s small amount for pain and suffering was an insult. Nobody wants to see their lives ones in that condition. Totally unprofessional, it wasn’t like celebrity death scenes that everyone is curious to see. That poor family can never unsee their daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter in that condition.
I completely agree. Those photos shouldn’t have been leaked
I know, those images are burned into the family’s minds forever. It’s really sad
Yet you are here viewing… exact reason photos are posted, people want to see.
Yet. You clicked on the article to look.
I take issue with those who post these photos for profit….like the POS who initially released them. However, once out there, they’re in no more bad taste than those who filmed car accidents for highway safety films or law enforcement training videos or medical schools. Yes they are graphic, and yes they are heartbreaking, but there are those who look at them from a research standpoint. Contrary to popular belief, we’re not all fiends, and the bulk of the people coming here read and look with that goal in mind…for research.
