Dark Type Counters and Weaknesses

In Pokemon GO, Dark-type is one of the 18 typings a Pokemon can have. Dark-type Pokemon were introduced in Generation II alongside Steel-type Pokemon. In this Pokemon GO guide, you'll learn the weaknesses and counters of Dark-type Pokemon.

Dark-Type Weaknesses and Counters

Dark-type Pokemon are weak to Bug, Fairy, and Fighting-type Pokemon. This means moves that are any of these types are 160% as effective against Dark-type Pokemon and good choices for countering them.

Bug

Bug-type moves don't shine as much as Fairy and Fighting-type moves due to the fact that there aren't many Bug-type Pokemon in the Pokemon GO meta. Regardless, there are still some good options out there, like Bug Buzz and X-Scissor.

Fairy

Fairy-types moves tend to be some of the most powerful in the game due to Fairy-type Pokemon having some of the highest Attack stats in Pokemon GO. Additionally, the Fairy-type move Charm is highly coveted for its 20 base damage. For these reasons, Fairy-type is the best typing to use on Dark-type Pokemon.

• Mega Gardevoir
• Clefable
• Alolan Ninetales

Fighting

Fighting-type tend to be better than Bug-type moves because of the Pokemon GO meta, but in most circumstances, they're not nearly as good as Fairy-type moves. Moves like Dynamic Punch and Close Combat are solid picks for Fighting-type Pokemon.
