Tennessee Court system consists of the Supreme Court, Appellate courts, trial (Circuit and Chancery) courts, and courts with limited jurisdiction (i.e. general sessions courts, juvenile courts, and municipal courts). Hamilton County birth and death records are maintained by Hamilton County’s Health Department Vital Records Office. The Department maintains Hamilton County birth certificates of individuals born in the county within the last 100 years and death certificates for individuals who died within the last 50 years.
