Scrabble Sprint turns the classic board game of Scrabble into a fast-paced solo experience.

Gameplay

Click or type a word with two or more letters. Submit the word to gain points.

Your objective is to use letters to fill a sixty-four square board before the time runs out, while getting as many points as you can.

Scoring

Each letter is worth a certain amount of points.

• Common letters like S, R, and all vowels, are worth 1 point.
• Somewhat common letters like D and G are worth 2 points.
• Somewhat uncommon letters like B, C, and P are worth 3 points.
• Uncommon letters like F, H, V, W, and Y are worth 4 points. 
• Very uncommon letters like K are worth 5 points.
• Rarely used letters like J and X are worth 8 points.
• The letter Z is worth 10 points.

Game Board

Different tiles on the board can alter how much each letter or word is worth.

• Double Letter / Triple Letter: Some tiles will double or triple the value of a letter placed on them.
• Double Word / Triple Word: Some tiles double or triple the value of an entire word.

You can Recall the letters you’re about to play to your rack. You can also Mix up the letters in your rack to get a new perspective and find new words. Finally, you can Exchange tiles, but for each tile you exchange, you’ll lose ten points and ten seconds on the clock.

Game end

You’re racing the clock, so you need to score points to get more time on your timer. If you successfully use all 64 letters, you win, and you get one point for each second you have left on the clock.

Dictionary

Scrabble Sprint uses the Scrabble word list. This means that uncommon English words that are part of the Scrabble dictionary still count!

Some uncommon words that might help you include: 

• CWM: a Welsh loanword meaning a steep-sided valley
• QIS: 'qi' is a variant spelling of the Greek letter 'chi'
• SUQ: also spelled 'souk' in English, a North African marketplace
• YOK: an alternate spelling of 'yuk'

Tips and Tricks

• Some board tiles give you extra points for a single letter; others for the whole word. It’s worth it to save Qs, Js, and other high-scoring tiles for the extra point tiles.
• Longer words are worth more points, but a short word with high scoring letters is just as good as a long word made of cheap letters.
• Save your S and R tiles if you can. They’re common parts of most words, and are an easy way to gain more points on a rare word.
• With rare exceptions, you can’t use the letter Q without U. Try to save your Us until you have a Q to go with them.

Controls

Click or tap letters to place them on the board. Or create a word by typing on your keyboard. Click or hit ENTER to submit a word. Hit BACKSPACE to clear a word. Click Mix Up or hit SPACE to jumble your letters, to possibly see new combinations.
