Joanna Gaines is showing her son the big city.

On Wednesday, June 5, the HGTV star, 46, posted a Reel to her Instagram as she shared photos and videos on Instagram from her recent trip to New York City with husband Chip and their kids. In the video, son Crew, 5, can be seen riding in a car, walking along the streets of New York, playing piano and eating some soup dumplings.

The video also captured some fun moments with Chip and Joanna's daughters, Ella, 17, and Emmie, 14. The couple is also parents to sons Duke, 16, and Drake, 19.

"Our little farm boy loves the city like his mama and sisters ✨," Joanna wrote in her caption, adding #NYC and setting the song as Simon & Garfunkel's "The Only Living Boy in New York."

Chip and Joanna Gaines Don't Allow Their Kids on Social Media Until Summer Before College: 'It's a Challenge'

While appearing on Today with Hoda & Jenna in May, the HGTV couple spoke with co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager about letting their kids on social media.

"One of the things we all agree with is that we’re careful when it comes to cellphones and social media with our kids. What is y’all's stance? Just help us raise our children," Bush Hager joked.

"Our house rule is you get social media the summer before you go to college. So we have that time. So 18. We have that time to kind of work through that whole…" Joanna responded, trailing off.

"But it’s a challenge! I mean, you can tell these kids want it before that. It’s not like it’s this agreed place to where we’ve all decided at roughly 18 and they’re like, ‘Oh thank goodness. I didn’t want it to begin with.’ They want it at 12, 13, 14," added Chip.

Last November, the Magnolia Network founders opened up about the realities of raising four teenagers (and a preschooler), what their kids think about their parents' success, and their hopes for the future.

"What we have realized about our kids is, they want to feel as normal as possible. So they don't ever talk about any of it. I think they love the idea of flying under the radar, feeling normal," said Joanna.

"We get that. But maybe they'll be proud of this one day," she added, referring to the lifestyle empire she and Chip have built over the last 20 years, which started with a small home goods shop in downtown Waco, Texas and has grown to include a hit HGTV show, product lines, books, and as of 2022, their own TV network.
