Winnisquam Boat Rentals open for the season on Saturday, May 3rd! Our online rental calendar makes it easy to book full-day reservations. During the early season, we also offer half-day and 2-hour rentals—just give us a call at (603) 524-8380 to reserve.
Reservation & Rental Policies:
You need a Boating Certificate from NASBLA or State Agency to rent a boat with over 25hp. You can take a temporary 14-day certificate test at the marina or get your certificate fully online (See below for details). We recommend reviewing the NH Boaters Guide.
The renter must be 21 years or older.
The renter must have a valid driver’s license.
Rental days are from 9AM to 4PM.
Reservations are highly recommended.
Payment can be made by MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or cash.
For reservations made from November to April, a 20% deposit is required. The remainder is due 30 days prior to your reservation and will be automatically charged. For reservations from April to October, payment is due in full.
You must pay a damage deposit using MasterCard, Visa, or Discover.
You are responsible for any damage to the boat and/or gear. A damage deposit is taken on the day of the rental, but you are responsible for the total value of the rental boat package and/or any lost gear.
If you cancel at least 7 days in advance, you will receive a full refund.
If it’s raining on the day of your rental, you can cancel by 8:15am by phone call or at the marina. No exceptions. If you have a multiple day reservation, you can only cancel or modify your reservation if it’s raining on the first day.
You must pay for all fuel used.
No grills of any kind are allowed on the boats.
Dogs are allowed on our boats, but you are responsible for cleaning and/or damages.
If you bring the boat back later than 4PM, there will be a late charge of 0 per half hour. If you bring the boat back unreasonably dirty, there will be a minimum cleaning charge of .
You can operate boats between sunrise and sunset for multiple day rentals. No boats are allowed to operate after sunse

If you plan on renting a boat with us that’s over 25 horsepower, it’s important that you have a valid boating certificate to operate the boat. When you arrive at our marina, please bring your certificate with you, so we can make a copy of it for our records. It’s also a good idea to keep a copy of the certificate with you on the boat in case Marine Patrol needs to verify it. By following these simple steps, you can enjoy a safe and worry-free day out on the water.
Get Your 14-Day Temporary Boater’s Certificate Test ASAP at Winnisquam Marine!
If you need a boating certificate, don’t worry! Winnisquam Marine can help. As an agent for issuing 14-day temporary boater’s certificates, we offer a simple and convenient way to obtain your certificate. The test consists of 25 multiple choice questions that you must complete within 25 minutes. The cost is , whether you pass or fail. However, if you are renting a boat from Winnisquam Marine, we will pay for the test! To ensure that you pass the test, we recommend that you review the NH Boater’s Guide beforehand. Please note that if you have made a reservation but cannot produce a valid boating certificate or do not pass the test, no refund will be issued. So, make sure to come prepared so you can enjoy your day out on the water!

While we understand that weather conditions can be unpredictable, we want to ensure that you still receive the advantages and value associated with a multi-day rental.
Absolutely! We offer the convenience of overnight docking for multi-day rentals. Just inform us during the rental pick-up process, and we will provide you with the location of the designated boat slip.
The damage deposit is an authorization only. An authorization only is not a charge just a hold on your credit card. The authorization is released on the day your rental period concludes. Please note that it may take your credit card issuer approximately 3-5 business days to release the hold and make the funds available again.
If you choose to use a debit card for the damage deposit, the corresponding funds will be temporarily withdrawn from your account. We recommend using a credit card for the damage deposit to avoid any potential delays or inconveniences caused by the release of funds.
Are there any additional Fees?
You are responsible for the cost of the gas you consume during your rental period. When you pick up the rental boat, it will have a full tank of gas. At the end of your rental, we will refill the tank and calculate the amount of gas used. You will be charged accordingly for the fuel consumed.
Great news! New Hampshire is a tax-free state when it comes to boat rentals. You won’t have to worry about paying any taxes on your rental boat. This means the price you see is the price you pay, without any additional tax charges.
Can the boat be delivered to a different lake?
We are unable to deliver rental boats to different lakes for use. This restriction is due to the regulations set by our insurance company, which prohibits us from providing delivery services to locations other than our designated marina.
As the responsible party for the boat rental, the person who rented the boat is typically expected to be the one driving. However, we do allow others to operate the boat with certain conditions:
The alternate driver must be 21 years of age or older.
The alternate driver must possess a valid safe boating certificate as required by law. If operating a boat over 25HP.
It is crucial that the renter understands and acknowledges that any damages caused by the alternate driver will be their responsibility.
To meet the requirements set by our insurance company, the renter and driver must be at least 21 years of age or older.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, we gladly welcome dogs on our rental boats! However, we kindly request that all dogs be leashed while on our property for the safety and comfort of all customers.
Please be aware that if your dog sheds an excessive amount of fur in the boat, an additional cleaning fee of will be applied. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a clean and enjoyable environment for all renters.
Currently, there is no insurance coverage for boat rentals. As the renter, you are responsible for any damage that may occur during the rental period.
However, it’s worth noting that some customers may have coverage through their home insurance policies that extends to boat rentals. We recommend contacting your insurance company directly to inquire about any existing coverage and to understand the extent of protection provided.
Absolutely! We prioritize the safety of our customers, which is why we provide life jackets free of charge for your convenience. The following details apply to our life jacket offerings:
Type of life jackets: Our boats are equipped with Type I orange life jackets, which meet safety standards and provide reliable flotation.
Sizes available: We have a range of sizes available, from infant to 3XL, ensuring that there is a suitable life jacket for everyone.
Children’s life jackets: For children aged 12 and under, wearing an approved life jacket is mandatory. We offer a wonderful collection of easy-fitting and fun life jackets designed specifically for children to choose from.

Are you able to boat between Lake Winnisquam and Winnipesaukee?
It would indeed be a fantastic experience to be able to boat directly between Lake Winnisquam and Lake Winnipesaukee. However, I regret to inform you that the two lakes are not directly connected due to the presence of dams and Lake Opeeche in between.
While you cannot boat between the lakes, you have the opportunity to explore each lake separately. You can rent a boat on Lake Winnisquam for one day and then rent another boat on Lake Winnipesaukee the next day to fully enjoy and discover the unique features and attractions of each lake.
