Looking for the perfect warm gray paint color for your home? Let's talk about Sherwin Williams Eider White - undertones, coordinating colors, and trim colors - and if it might be right for your home!
Picking paint colors is tough and important! Even if you think you want white or gray - something simple - there are SO MANY choices.
Today we are chatting about Sherwin Williams Eider White - a very light and bright but warm greige (gray-beige) paint color.
This is a great color to choose if you want almost-white walls, but a touch of color and nothing too stark or cold.
Eider White is actually on the same paint strip as Repose Gray, an ultra popular greige paint color!
If you want a greige paint color that is super light and bright - Eider White might be it for you!

Eider White is in the warm gray color family.
73 - this is a light bright color, but the LRV is low enough that it is definitely NOT white but more of a gray or off white color.
Light Reflective Value is the measurement of how much light a color bounces around. This is on a scale of 0 to 100 with 0 being pure black and 100 being pure white.

Eider White has a lot of undertones to it, especially depending on the lighting of the room.
This is a very light gray color with warm undertones.
In certain lights, it can read purple or even pink! These undertones are less visible in bright, natural light. If your room is dark, prepare to see more pink.
This is why it's so important to test your colors on all walls of your room, day and night, lights on and lights off!
This color can work in a bedroom, living room, or kitchen. It's also good on the exterior of a house! Just test it in your space to be sure you like how it looks.
Because lighting effects this color so much, I don't recommend it for a whole house paint color.

You have a few choices when pairing Eider White with other colors:
Darker grays:
Blues:
Browns:
For trim colors, you have two options. One is to use Eider White for walls AND trim. Just pick a different sheen. I like eggshell for the walls and semigloss for trim. This provides a soft, tone-on-tone look.
For more contrast, stick to bright white trim. Creamy trim could clash and not provide enough contrast with Eider White.
