T-Mobile Magenta plan

T-Mobile has a few different plans for people to choose from, but at the heart of the company's wireless offerings is T-Mobile Magenta. Here's a closer look at how much T-Mobile Magenta costs, what's included with it, and whether or not it's actually a good deal.

Certain phone carriers have more confusing plan options than others. In the case of T-Mobile, its lineup is one of the easiest to make sense of. There are three core plan offerings available, including Essentials, Magenta, and Magenta MAX. Essentials is the most barebones option, Magenta MAX includes as many features as possible for folks willing to pay for it, and the regular Magenta plan sits right in the middle between both of them. It's often seen as the best mix of features and value for most people, but is that really the case?

Per T-Mobile's website, pricing for its Magenta plan works out as follows. For one line of service, Magenta costs /month. That's a pretty hefty amount on its own, but savings are quickly seen as more lines are added. Two lines of service cost 0/month,  3 lines also go for 0/month, 4 lines of service can be had for 0/month, and 5 lines will set someone back 0/month. Getting 4 or 5 lines of Magenta on a single account is the best deal, as each line comes down to just or /month, respectively, for each line. Unlike most other carriers, all of these prices include taxes/fees. If someone signs up for 4 lines of Magenta, they'll pay exactly 0/month and not a penny more.

Everything You Get With T-Mobile Magenta

T-Mobile Magenta plans as of July 2021

Regardless if someone has 1, 2, or 5 lines of service of T-Mobile Magenta, the perks that come with it are pretty fantastic. At its core, T-Mobile Magenta includes unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE/5G data — 100GB of which is Premium Data (data that isn't subject to speed throttling during network congestion). T-Mobile Magenta subscribers get 5GB of high-speed hotspot data (downgraded to unlimited 3G speeds after that), and videos on apps/websites stream in 480p SD quality.

T-Mobile Magenta also comes with ample perks for folks that do a lot of traveling. Subscribers get unlimited international texting and 2G data in 210+ countries. T-Mobile offers unlimited talk, text, and data when traveling to Mexico or Canada — the first 5GB being LTE speeds and then downgraded to 2G. Last but certainly not least, eligible flights with Gogo service allow T-Mobile Magenta users to get unlimited in-flight texting and 1 hour of Wi-Fi access.

Then there are all of the extra perks that come with T-Mobile Magenta. Subscribers get free stuff every week with T-Mobile Tuesday, caller ID, and scam call blocking. If someone has 2+ lines of Magenta, they also get a free Netflix Basic subscription for streaming in SD quality on one device at a time (normally .99/month). When all of that's added together, it's safe to say T-Mobile Magenta is a good deal. It's best when multiple lines are combined on a single account, but even when just getting 1 or 2 lines of service, it's cheaper than comparable plans from AT&T and Verizon. So long as T-Mobile has good coverage in the area that someone lives, T-Mobile Magenta is a fantastic option to consider.
