As per article 6.10 of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement faculty must "Administer final examinations (or, when an examination is not appropriate, hold a class meeting) during the final examination period, and follow the published time schedule. General Information

  • As per article 6.10 of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, “faculty members must: . . . (b) submit grades as soon as possible from the time the final examination is given, but in any event, no later than December 29 for the fall semester, and the first Friday after graduation for the spring semester.”
  • The instructor is obligated to cooperate with students when an alternate exam time must be scheduled.
  • Students must inform instructors of exam conflicts at least three weeks prior to the start of final exams.
  • Where two courses in a department conflict, the course in the student's major takes precedence. If no courses in the major are involved, the higher-numbered course takes precedence. When two courses in the same department conflict, the higher-numbered course takes precedence.
  • Students are not required to take more than two exams in one day. Priority of exams is as follows: the course in the student's major followed by the higher-numbered course. Students who fail to notify faculty in a timely manner must take all exams as scheduled.
  • Faculty who create an exam conflict or a third exam on the same day by scheduling an exam during a Special Exam period must schedule an alternate exam period for the student(s) involved upon request.
