Before he retired, he worked as a research scientist.

When did Dr Brenda Page and Christopher Harrison get divorced?

A divorce was granted in October 1977.

It was later revealed Brenda had taken a restraining order against her ex.

She left what turned out to be a will with her sister, Rita Ling, with the message: "To be opened only after my death".

Rita said: "I didn't open it until after she died.

"I didn't think it was relevant to her marriage at the time. I was only afterwards I put two and two together."

Rita saw her younger sister the weekend before she died.

"She had been to a conference that was very successful, and she was in a really good mood," she said.

"But she did not want to go home to Aberdeen. Because she was afraid her ex-husband would still be pestering her."

In the days leading up to her death Page was said to be “terrified” and living in fear for her life.

What happened to Dr Brenda Page?

Dr Brenda Page went dinner with two businessmen at a hotel in Aberdeen, Scotland.

She was last seen alive as she was leaving around 2.30 am.

Her body was later discovered hours later on her bed by colleagues after she failed to turn up for work.

It was reported that Page had been hit around 30 times on her head, face and body with a blunt chisel-like object.

She died from blood inhalation on July 14, 1978.

A damaged window on her flat suggested the property had been broken into, however, nothing was stolen.

At the time, police carried out a major investigation which involved interview around 3,000 people.

However, due to the lack of leads the case was closed two years after Page's death.

How did Christopher Harrisson evade justice?

Police believed the blame lay with Harrisson, however, they had insufficient evidence to prosecute.

He was originally brought in for questioning by Grampian Police but was released without charge.

The cold case was reopened back in 2015, and police made their first arrest in March 2020 when they stormed into Harrisson's home.

He was then charged with murder.

Using new scientific techniques, prosecutors were able to prove that he had beaten Page to death after he spent years maintaining his innocence.

A minute flake of paint found on Dr Page's bedroom window - which had been forced open - was matched to the paint on Harrisson's Mini Traveller car.

DNA samples taken from her flat were examined using modern forensic techniques.

Where is Christopher Harrisson now?

Harrisson was arrested in 2020 for the murder of his ex-wife.

He denied the murder charge but was later found guilty by the High Court in Aberdeen in March 2023.

He has been sentenced to a minimum of 20-years behind bars before he can apply for parole.

It is likely that the killer likely die behind bars.

Psychotherapist Celia Harrisson, Harrisson's sister, told how her parents had been “horrified” by their former daughter-in-law’s killing.

And she revealed she never again heard from her “troubled” older brother, who she calls Kit.

She said: “I’ll never forget the day there was a knock at my parent’s door and it was a policeman, who told us about Brenda’s murder. My mother screamed.”

She added: “I didn’t see Kit again until my father’s funeral in 1992 and then haven’t seen him since.”
