North Carolina lottery money for education
Money raised by the North Carolina Education Lottery goes, in part, to fund education in the state.
What does that mean?
Money from the lottery makes up a portion of the statewide budget for schools. In 2023, the lottery shifted more than billion to North Carolina schools. State lawmakers decide and dictate
how that money should be used. In 2023, 48% of the money from the lottery funded school construction or renovation; 38% went toward pay for school staff.
