FDA-approved intranasal esketamine (Spravato) is for treatment-resistant depression in adults. This medication is used with a traditional antidepressant and is offered only in a clinic setting. Patients receive doses once or twice a week, while being monitored by a REMS certified Registered Nurses, and a Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) (In-person, Virtual, SUD)

The Intensive Outpatient Program may serve as a step down from inpatient care or PHP, or for outpatients needing more intensive care than office visits. Depression, anxiety, and/or thought disorganization are the symptoms addressed in the group treatment format. The focus is on helping patients better understand their diagnosis, manage symptoms, increase functioning, and prevent relapse. Patients attend three days per week for up to four hours per day. Length of stay varies and is determined by individual needs.
During treatment, staff will work with established outpatient providers to improve treatment outcomes and transition between levels of care. Staff will assist in developing discharge plans that include follow-up treatment and aftercare. The IOP staff are caring professionals who are dedicated to providing high quality programming to assist in improving the lives of the people we serve. Our staff includes Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Independently Licensed Social Workers, Independently Licensed Professional Counselors, and Registered Nurses.
Electroconvulsive Therapy ( ECT)

ECT is a safe and effective treatment for some psychiatric disorders. We use it to treat depression, but it is also effective with other mood disorders, such as bipolar disorder. Before a patient receives their first treatment, they will create a treatment plan with their physician team to determine that ECT is the appropriate form of treatment. The total number of treatments needed to successfully treat severe depression will vary based on age, diagnosis, history of the illness, family support and response to treatment. Most people require six to twelve treatments and may notice a difference after two to four depending on the severity of their illness. ECT can be inpatient or outpatient.
Long-Acting Injection Clinic (LAI)

The Long-Acting Injection Clinic is an alternative treatment option for people who are having trouble consistently taking their daily or regular antipsychotic medicine in the form of tablets, capsules or liquids. Located at Mercy Health – Lorain Hospital campus the LAI Clinic can help safely administer a patient's antipsychotic medicine in the form of a single injection, which steadily releases medication into the body over the course of several weeks. Patients can expect nursing assessment upon admission and brief psychoeducation during each appointment and oversight of treatment by the psychiatrist and pharmacy team.
Patients interested in entering the LAI program need an active prescription from a prescribing psychiatrist or an initial appointment with an in-house psychiatrist to begin.
