Overall, I've enjoyed living in my apartment. I have lived here for about 3 years now. It is a large corner studio in a diverse neighborhood that is only a 3-5 minute walk to the Columbia Heights metro. Location is ideal as the buses run north to Silver Spring, south to Downtown DC, and there is also a crosstown bus nearby. It is close to several grocery stores (Giant, Safeway, Harris Teeter, etc.) and places to eat as well. The major drawbacks are the lack of parking in this area and the lack of centralized air as it can get warm and humid in the summer (there is only a window fan). Price may vary as I initially paid less when I moved in; however, the space is rent controlled so there are no unexpected charges.
The best part of the apartment is its location. It's two blocks away from the metro, right in front of the bus stop, 2 blocks from the grocery store and a bunch of big box stores, restaurants, and bars. Anything you need is right there.
The apartment isn't very social, and the management isn't the greatest, but it's tolerable.
The apartments are really nice looking however the kitchens/bathrooms tend to be very small. No dishwasher, and the washer/dryer are in the basement. AC units are very old and don't cover much area while having driving up the bill significantly. The locations is great- walking distance to everything you need. We have found one mouse and one roach but aside from that it's quite nice. Wood floors are wonderful and the view from our floor is great. Decent rooftop.
