Etowah County Communications District is here for the citizens, we are staffed 24/7 including weekends and holidays.

9-1-1 telecommunicators are the unseen backbone of emergency services, the first, FIRST RESPONDERS.

We dispatch police and fire departments for several different municipalities including: Etowah County Sheriff’s department, Glencoe, Hokes Bluff, Sardis, Altoona, Rainbow City and Southside, in addition to 20 volunteer fire departments. We receive all cell phone calls within our county’s jurisdictions.

Etowah county is located in the northeastern part of Alabama, in total area it is the smallest county in Alabama (549 sq miles) in Alabama, but one of the most densely populated. We serve a population of approximately 102,986 (2024).
