HBO is releasing a true-crime adaptation titled, Love & Death, in April 2023, which explores the true story of Betty Gore's murder.
Betty Gore was a housewife from Texas who later became a grade school teacher.
Betty had two children with her then-husband, Allan, her daughters' names are Alisa (Lisa) and Bethany.
Allan lost custody of his daughters to Betty's parents during the time between Betty's death and Candy Montgomery’s 1980 trial, Bustle reports.
The Gore daughters eventually moved from Texas to the state of Kansas.
The outlet also reports that Lisa still lives in Kansas with her husband Jonn Harder, and their two sons, Sam and Jacob.
In 1992 Lisa graduated from Norwich High before moving on to higher education.
She went on to earn an accounting degree from Kansas State University.
According to her LinkedIn, Lisa now works as Business Controller at Koch Engineered Solutions.
Bethany has a family of her own as well with her husband Chad Mickey.
Bustle reports that Bethany's daughter Josie shares a birthday with her late grandmother, Betty.
Bethany and her husband named their second daughter Betty after Bethany's late mother.
She also has a son named Henry who was born in December 2019.
Following in her mother's footsteps, Bethany graduated from Wichita State University and became a teacher.
She currently works as an assistant principal at Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas, according to her Linkedin.
Betty was murdered on June 13, 1980, later that month Candy was arrested and charged with her murder.
Candy admitted during trial to murdering her friend Betty Gore.
After admitting that she murdered Betty in an act of self-defense, Candy was acquitted of all of the charges stemming from Betty's murder.
Betty and her family were neighbors of Candy and Pat Montgomery.
On April 27, 2023, HBO released a limited series detailing the true story of Betty's death.
"This riveting drama from David E. Kelley tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe," the synopsis reads.
Elizabeth Olsen stars as the accused killer, Candy Montgomery.
Previously, in May 2022, Hulu premiered a true-crime drama series titled, Candy.
Actress Melanie Lynskey portrayed Betty, while Jessica Biel played the role of Candy in the series.
